This is a table runner I made for my good friend Michael for his 30th birthday. |

A cover I made for an ottoman. This measures 30" x 30". The quilt square is the Chicago Star block found at The Quilter's Cache. |

This is my first appliqué quilt, finished in the wee hours right before Christmas. I made it for my dad and Kathy as a Christmas present in 2004. I saw it in the class offerings at Quilt University and had no idea it would be as labor intensive as it was, but knew it would be perfect for them and it was worth it. They love it! ... but I have to admit it I need a little bit of a rest before doing any more appliqué! The name of the class was Triple Treat Tulips and the class instructor was Susan Brittingham -- click here to check out her web site. You can also see my finished quilt in the Quilt University gallery. The finished dimensions of the quilt are 27" high by 37" wide. |

A baby quilt made for my new cousin, Chloe Lynn. It measures 32" x 36". I love the fabrics ~ they are cheery and colorful and match her nursery. I found the fabrics on accident and couldn't believe my luck in finding fabrics of the theme of clouds and stars in yellow and blue! |

This is a baby quilt made for my coworker and his family -- they just had a new baby, Grace Marie. The heart in the middle has her name cross stitched on it. I have to say these pictures don't do the quilt justice. The colors are beautiful in person ~ the greenish/yellowish fabrics have ladybugs, ants, and caterpillars at a picnic. The red fabric, which pulls out the ladybug print in person, has little pink hearts all over it. The pattern is from the March/April 2004 issue of Quiltmaker magazine and was designed by Caroline Reardon. The finished quilt measures 41" x 41". |

This is a pillow that I made for my Gramma for her birthday in August of 2003. She absolutely loved it! I told her that all the hearts represent how much love I have for her. Gram passed away in May of 2005 so I have this pillow on the bed in my guest bedroom where she used to stay when she visited. I didn't use a pattern -- just machine appliquéd some hearts onto a background, and then made it into a casing for a 20" x 20" pillow. |

This is my Star of Bethlehem quilt that I made for myself. It also could be called a Lone Star, Morning Star, or Star of the East, depending on the cultural influence of the design. This particular quilt follows a very traditional Amish design, emphasizing the star, not the border, and I used earth-tone fabrics to bring a jolt of my favorite season, fall, to my living room. It measures 70" x 70". |

Here is a baby quilt that I made for my best friend's sister's new baby, Ethan Alexander. It's 40" x 40". |

This is the lap quilt I made for my niece, Allison, for her 2003 graduation from high school. She's going to my alma mater, the University of Illinois, so I made it in the school colors orange and blue. It's 55" x 55". |

This is the American Flag quilt that I made in memory of the NY firemen who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001, and also in honor of members of the Bartlett, IL Fire Department. My sister-in-law, Marissa, and my niece, Emily (that's Emily with me in the picture on the right), went with me to deliver it to Fire Chief Kevin Heine of the Bartlett FD during a FD Board meeting. Quilt - Scrappy Flag by Gloria Smith ~ finished quilt measures 46"w x 35"l Cross Stitch Label: Angel Pattern - Better Homes and Garden Cross Stitch and Needlework. This is a baby quilt that I made for my co-worker Carlos' new granddaughter, Sofia Cristina. I didn't use a pattern, just kind of wung it. |

Okay, technically this isn't a quilt, but I had to brag on this. It's a 30" x 30" pillow that I made from Paula Vaughan's discontinued chart, Cherished Moments. |

Here is the Storm at Sea quilt I made for my cousin Eric and his new wife, Karen, as their wedding present in October of 2001. The cross stitch is the label I made and attached to the back of the quilt. |

This table runner is the first quilt project I ever made. This is the project we made in the "Getting Started" class at Quilt University. |

I took the above quilt pattern and used Christmas fabrics to make two more runners -- one for my dad and step-mom and one for my aunt and uncle. The picture on the left is my aunt and uncle's. Click on the image to see it full and you'll see the cute reindeer fussy cut into the center of each block! |

This is Victoria, my first "big" quilt. Victoria (named for the Victorian colors, as suggested by my instructor, Nancy Ludwig) is a Bargello quilt that I finished in October of 2000. Victoria won third place in an online quilt show in February of 2001. She's hanging in my entryway. |

This is my first block from my Flying Geese quilt. I love the look of blue against beige. This quilt is the result of a class I'm taking on Quilt University. Nyla Morrison is my very, very patient instructor. |

Here's the latest (July 2001) on the Flying Geese quilt. This is a picture of the squares laid out on the floor so that I could get an idea if I wanted them set diagonally or not. I decided to go ahead an lay them diagonally -- filling in the center with a simple beige (hopefully I can find the same fabric I used on the Geese blocks!) and machine quilting some awesome designs into them! |

Here is the quilt top laid out minus the triangles at the edges. Koshka's helping keep them in place! |

And
finally, here is the finished quilt top. All I have to do now is
mark it, sandwich it, quilt it, and bind it. Sigh! I've got a
lot of work still ahead of me!!! -- July 22, 2001
10 Jan 2005 -- yes, 3-1/2 years later and I've pulled it out to work on again. Now that I know some appliqué I am going to jazz up those inside blocks with some appliquéd flowers. This is high up in the project rotation list so you should get another picture soon! I was waiting to get inspired on how to finish it off and now my head is racing with creative ideas. |
