stand.jpg (77889 bytes)

I couldn't start this page off with a picture of anything else ... this is the tapestry stand that my dad sent to me in July of 2001.  He made this all by hand from a woodworking plan on the Internet and had to even convert all measurements from metric to imperial.  This is the coolest thing anyone has ever given me.  I totally didn't expect it, and it's so appreciated.  He individually wrapped each piece and shipped it up to me from Florida ~ complete with directions and a hardware bag.  He thinks I'm crazy to be this excited over a tapestry stand, but it means much more to me than he'll ever know.  What a dad!!  xxoo

This is a collection of my finished cross stitch and needlepoint projects ...

they are all thumbnail images -- click on any image to see it easier!

jobs tears.jpg (382851 bytes) This is a piece my dear friend Charlotte made for me for my birthday.  It's Job's Tears from Paula Vaughan's Quilts of the Bible.
emily photo.jpg (241749 bytes) Here is a photo album I made in October 2004 for my niece Emily.  We are planning a trip to Florida in November so the photo album has alligators and palm trees -- very cute!

"Palm Tree at the Beach" ©2000 Jenn Luecht can be found on the Net by clicking here.

small houses.jpg (585922 bytes) I started this about a year ago while recovering from surgery.  I couldn't pick it up and work on it again after the surgery because it just brought back bad memories of the hospital stay.  I had to have more surgery this fall to follow up on the previous one, so I finished it while recovering.  I really like it and actually made it into a small wall hanging for my living room.

"Small House" from Just CrossStitch Magazine, printed April 2003, designed by Kathy Moser of Brown House Studio.  I did change the lettering ~ the original design had big cross stitched letters that took up two rows of space above the houses.  I wanted something smaller and less "in your face" so did a simple backstitch alphabet instead.

angela.jpg (268968 bytes)mono.JPG (134190 bytes) Another photo album!  This time I made for one my friend Angela for her birthday in July of 2004.  She ranted and raved over Michael's (see below) so figuring out what to make her for her birthday was easy.  And here's a tip for folks who don't do needlework of any kind ~ learn from Angela ~ rant and rave about someone else's handmade present and you're bound to get one next!
michael.jpg (9514 bytes) A photo album cover that I made in June of 2004 for my dear friend Michael for his 36th, I mean 29th!!, birthday.  I still say he's 36 ...
german dancers.JPG (869854 bytes) Finished in July, 2004, this is a contribution to Love Quilts for a little girl named Caitlyn, who requested a dancing themed quilt.  You can see the other squares here.

"German Dancers" from Gloria & Pat's "Love One Another"

cathy cover front.jpg (617783 bytes)cathy cover inside.jpg (536727 bytes) This is a paperback book cover that I made for a coworker as a going away present in March of 2004.

It is approximately 7 inches high by 5 inches wide.  No published pattern, just figured it out on my own.

pjaneedleholder.jpg (291901 bytes) I made this needle book for my very dear friend, Pat, for Christmas of 2003.

It finished at about 5" x 5".

pointarenalight.jpg (838888 bytes) This is the lighthouse Point Arena Light in California.  I finished it in October of 2003.  This lighthouse, along with about 20 others, was made into a quilt and presented to Cathy, the founder of Love Quilts To Make a Child Smile, an organization I've been working with for years.  We (the volunteers for Love Quilts) wanted to make something for Cathy to show appreciation on behalf of all the children she has helped.
emilysangel.jpg (275352 bytes) I made this adorable angel for my niece, Emily, for her 9th birthday in 2002.

"Guardian Angel", Protected by Angels, ©1997, Good-Natured Girls and Leisure Arts

baby booties.jpg (81140 bytes) My co-worker and friend, Carlos, is expecting had his first grandchild in April of 2002.   This is a present for the bambino.

Chick pattern from 50 Baby Booties (#451) by Jeanette Crews Designs, Inc ©1997 ~ stitched on Charles Craft Baby Booties (14 count E-Z Care Royal Classic Aida)

marissa bookmark.jpg (287741 bytes) This is a bookmark that didn't take me long at all to make, but I think it's so pretty.  It was for my brother's girlfriend, Marissa, for her birthday -- she later became my sister-in-law!

Simple Elegance III ~ Country Crafts, Pat Waters & Charles Craft ©1986

Finished top.jpg (260804 bytes)

This is a 30" x 30" pillow that I made from Paula Vaughan's discontinued design, Cherished Moments.  This is definitely something I'm keeping for myself.  The picture doesn't do it justice.

Charlotte.jpg (561742 bytes) I didn't make this adorable heart card ... my friend Charlotte in Ireland made it for me.  I had to post it ... I think it's beautiful.
lizzie kate friendship pillow top.jpg (182859 bytes) lizzie kage friendship finished pillow.jpg (92519 bytes) Here is a pillow that I made for my best friend, Cindy, for Christmas 2001.  I love how this turned out.  Another present hard to give away   :P

“Friendship”, ©1999 Lizzie*Kate, Inc.

cross stitched label for E & K's quilt.jpg (91003 bytes) This is the quilt label that I made for the back of the Storm at Sea quilt that I made for my cousin Eric and his wife Karen as a wedding present.   Click here to see the quilt!  They were married on October 20th, 2001.
birdhouse bookmark This is a bookmark that I finished in September of 2001 and think I'm going to keep for myself.  I like it so much I think I'll get it framed instead of making it into a bookmark.

"Birdhouse/Nature's Beauty", designed by Robin Kingsley, published in the July 2001 edition of Crazy for Cross Stitch.

close up of stitching Eric and Karen's finished wedding purse This is the wedding purse that I finished in September of 2001 as a wedding shower gift for my cousin Eric and his fiancée, Karen.

Candamar Designs, Inc., design #50890 -- Video Cover or Bride's Purse

Pop's castle bookmark.jpg (116849 bytes) Here is the bookmark that I made for my dad for his birthday in June of 2001.  He loves books and I thought this would be perfect for him.  This design is stitched on a pre-finished 18 count bookmark.  I used Wonder-Under and a beige calico print fabric on the back to give it a finished look.

"Bookmarks Galore", Leisure Arts' leaflet 2985, ©1997.

Love My Cat.jpg (196478 bytes) I loved this pattern as soon as I saw it since it looks like Koshka, my oldest cat.  I used The Gentle Art overdyed sampler threads for the first time on this project and am impressed with the results, although the thread tangles like crazy, even when using Thread Heaven!

I stitched this on 30 count natural linen and finished it in May of 2001.

“Love My Cat”, #S12, ©1999 Lizzie*Kate, Inc.

 Glen's Water Break.jpg (136027 bytes)

This is a Kats by Kelly™ design, “Water Break”, that I made for my mom’s birthday in March of 2001.  She has a Burmese cat, Glen, that looks like this cat.  You can see at the bottom of the pattern that I personalized it just for him!

jar lacies.jpg (108834 bytes) I finished 24 of these jar lid covers for my co-workers and neighbors as Christmas presents in 2000.  These lid covers go over Mason jars, which I filled with red and green Crispy M & Ms!!

I adapted the design from Pam Kellogg's, which was featured in The Cross Stitcher magazine.  You can get Pam's design from the DMC Archives.  Pam's design utilizes 18-count Aida jar lacies -- I used 14-count to make the tree bigger and left out the "Merry Christmas" border to make the lacies look less "country".

   Elizabeth's completed Precious Moments

This is the Precious Moments that I finished in July of 2000 for Elizabeth from Love Quilts to Make A Child Smile.  This turned out so cute and I have to admit it was  hard to send it away!  But I hope it'll make a good contribution to Elizabeth's quilt.

Click here to see my square in the finished quilt, along with the squares that other stitchers made for Elizabeth!

   Michele's Bunnies

I made this for my friend and coworker Michele as a college graduation present -- I finished it in May of 2000.  The original text of the sign read "this house protected by killer dust bunnies" but I changed it to be Michele's name.

This is from Leisure Arts' leaflet 2967, Bunnies Galore, ©1997.

Mom's Present

This is my first time working with linen and with beads.  I made this for my mom for her birthday in March of 2000.

The designer is Dale Burdett and it was in a book (featured on the cover) called "A Beautiful Look ... That Is Really Quite Simple" and it's her fourth in her Learn to Design series, book DB-7143 ©1998.

Cat banner This is one of the few kits I've ever done.  I usually shy away from them, but the orange tabby cat on the top looks just like my oldest cat, Koshka.  I finished it in February of 2000.

The top is sewn onto a real neat hanger, but it wouldn't fit in the scanner.

This is Dimensions' kit "Purrfect Life" ©1998.

    Walter

This yellow lab profile resembles my brother's dog, Walter, so closely that it's scary!  I made this for Mark for his birthday in May of 1999.

The chart can be found in Leisure Arts Leaflet 554 -- "Best Loved Dogs" ©1987.

 Grandma's glass case

This is a needlepoint glass case I made for my Grandma for Christmas, 1999.  Her vision isn't good, so I tried to pick bright colors and a big pattern.  She loved this!

Home sweet home

I made this for my house, which I bought in April of 1998.  I really loved the homey feel of it.  It's cute, but not too country.  I also liked that the Dresden Plate design of it let me change patterns frequently.

"Dresden Plate" -- Dale Burdett/Burdett Publications, "Country Patchwork" ©1984.

  sampler

I have this sampler hanging in the hallway on the way upstairs in my home.  I had mumps one semester at college, and stitched it while recovering!  It's a Doxology sampler, and I just love the theme of it and its colors.

"Doxology Sampler" -- Margaret & Margaret, Inc. ©1985.

  Karin bookmark.jpg (23358 bytes)

This is one of the first things I ever made for myself.  I made bookmarks similar to this one for both my mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother all for Mother's Day.  I think I gave them to them around 1980.  These were quick to make but turned out so pretty and feminine.

  Brenda's address book

my Bible cover

I made this Bible cover for myself in the early 1980s and used the similar style to make my friend Brenda an address book.  These are fun to make because I design it all based on the book I want to cover, and the personality of the recipient!

These are some WIPs (Works In Progress).

Some images are thumbnail, so if they have a purple border around them, click on them to see a larger version.

When possible, I'm going to put a scan up of the project, but usually it will be a scan of the kit's picture.  It's just to give you an idea what I'm working on!

The Cheval Glass

This is a chart I ordered from Uncharted Territory, one of my favorite web sites, of Berthe Morisot's The Cheval Glass.   Uncharted Territory specializes in very detailed charts of classic artwork.

Here are some scans of the project as I go ...

  Marked cloth

23 June 2000 --

You gotta start somewhere!  Here's the Aida cloth marked off into 4 of the 9 sections.  It's much easier to see if you click on the picture and view it full.  I can't imagine how funny this picture will look to me once all those Aida squares are full of stitches (almost 50,000 of them)!

as of 19 July 2000

19 July 2000 --

Hey, it's a start!  It's the upper left corner.  Look at the picture above, it's just to the left of the start of the mirror.

2005 update

I've picked it up again and am committed to working on it a little each week.  I'll post an update soon!
